Dave Scott

Dave Scott is the most recognised athlete and coach in the sport of triathlon. He is a six-time Ironman World Champion and the first inductee into the Ironman Hall of Fame.
Dave’s career in triathlon began with the inception of the sport in 1976. He won his first Hawaii Ironman in 1980 and went on to win again in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987. In 1993, he was honoured for his accomplishments in the sport and became the first inductee into the Ironman Hall of Fame. To celebrate, Dave came out of retirement and, at the age of forty, after a five year absence from competition, decided to race again. In a stunning and memorable performance, beating out an impressive field of professional athletes - many of whom were in their twenties - Dave placed second overall. This incredible physical and mental feat earned Dave a new nickname among the triathlon community and he has since been known as “The Man”.
Dave currently devotes his time educating and inspiring athletes of all abilities and ages, leading sport camps, clinics and races across the country and running his own training group in Boulder, USA. Dave combines years of wisdom, wit and creativity with his passion for helping others. He has been the head coach for Team In Training since 1999, helping to certify TNT coaches nationwide and is actively involved in the running of his business. As a coach, Dave offers individual and group fitness and nutrition consultations, innovative strength & flexibility e-program exercises, multi-media sport analysis and training tips, video analysis and corporate and tri club speaking engagements and clinics. Despite enjoying a busy career, Dave maintains a healthy and physically active lifestyle.
What Dave has to say…
“Selfishly as an athlete, coach and health advisor I have always sought out practices and products that are the most effective to optimise my health. Trying to establish a sound nutritional philosophy, I have always looked into the efficacy, stability and research of any supplement that I would ingest. Fortunately, over the past year I have had the opportunity to try Igennus’ line and, specifically, OmegaFlex.
The advantages of OmegaFlex are physiologically complex, but my justifications in using the product are straightforward.
There are four primary areas in which OmegaFlex has enhanced my health:
- As an anti-inflammatory agent for joints
- Cardiovascular health
- Antioxidant enrichment
- Mental harmony
Let’s take a closer look at these four factors:
Joints
OmegaFlex improves joint integrity and elevates the lubrication qualities of the synovial fluid. This allows a “frictionless” movement of the tendons, ligaments, bones and connective tissue in and around the joints. This factor has always been a priority for me after 30 plus years in triathlon. OmegaFlex combines several additional beneficial cold-pressed oils plus glucosamine hydrochloride to enrich the joint “buffer”.
Cardiovascular Health
Anyone who exercises, travels on aeroplanes, works in an office, or drives their car in congested areas is exposed to unstable molecules called free radicals. Exposure to environmental stresses results in higher levels of free radicals in the body, and can cause a methodical breakdown of your healthy cells.
Looking at this list, my own daily free radical exposure is extremely high. To combat this cellular destruction, my antioxidant levels need to be nourished at their capacity through food and supplementation.
My rationale for taking OmegaFlex is that the combined oils (including: omega-6, in the form of evening primrose oil, triterpenes and vitamin E) collectively fight oxidative stress in the form of free radical exposure. My health cannot be compromised and taking OmegaFlex is a simple, and safe, way to heighten antioxidant potential.
Mental Harmony
In my early twenties I recognised that mental stress could override my ability to be productive. Trying to manage and maintain my mental clarity and positive attitude has always been an area of my health which needed help. Certainly proper diet, adequate sleep and exercise are all prerequisites for optimal mental health. Recent research is definitive on taking an EPA-based omega-3 supplement. The EPA in OmegaFlex nourishes cells in the brain, allowing a smoother transfer of conductivity, ultimately heightening the message system to the brain and central nervous system. Essentially, higher levels of EPA enhance mental harmony by normalising the mood-affecting neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. The end result is that stress, depression and feelings that may overwhelm you are diminished - benefits which have meant that OmegaFlex has been instrumental in adding a positive spark to my mental outlook. It works!!!
Lastly, I will be chatting with all of you throughout the year discussing all aspects of a healthy lifestyle. I welcome your thoughts, challenges and insight.”
